Hades, the iron-fisted King, and Persephone, the goddess of spring whose laughter once greened the earth. Their fates dance between light and darkness, faith and doubt, love and fear.

Inspired by the spell of American folk and the fire of New Orleans jazz, Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown is no ordinary musical, it is a living myth, a folk opera that reminds us even in the silence of the underworld, music can rise.
